UK Jugs - UK Barenaked Ladies tour fansite
Welcome to UKJugs.co.uk
Like about 5000 other BNL Fans, I went to the Hammersmith Apollo on Friday 30th of March to see Barenaked Ladies play. This is the 3rd time I've seen them live, and I think this was the best set I've seen, although there could have been more adlibbing :)
The audio of the concert is now available to download from the BNL Audio website. It's well worth the $14, although I'm disappointed that they don't have FLAC copies of the UK tour available.

Camera Phones
During the course of the gig (partway through If I had a million dollars), the subject of cameraphones was mentioned:
Steve: You know what? I think this song is on the cutting edge of technology because of the amount of cameras I see out there.
Ed: Yeah?
Steve: Each and every one of you who's filming this right now has to promise me that they will put this on youtube tomorrow... Or y'know, on your myspace page, or if it's ukjugs.co.uk that's fine too... Your call. Just send me the link.
Ed: And if you are just taking a picture with your cameraphone, trust me. It looks great! I wish they would just admit that the technology is not there yet and stop putting them into phones and advertising them: "A phone with a really shit camera!"
Naturally, I had to take a couple picture with my cameraphone at that point, even if it is (naturally) really crap. Then I noticed ukjugs.co.uk was unregistered, and it seemed the obvious place to put them...
Oyster Cards
Also during million dollars, came the fantastic lyric:
If I had a million dollars
We'd buy an oyster card 'cos it costs more
This was followed by:
"I haven't been here long enough to figure out why they call it an oyster card, but it's the only way you can avoid getting fleeced."
After literally minutes of reasearch, it turns out the name reflects the way "the oyster protects a pearl in much the same way that the card protects the cardholder's money."
Aysgarth
One of the best stories of the gig was regarding the folk band Aysgarth - they'd covered Brian Wilson and posted the video on youtube, and were recognised by Ed while they were in London.
Leo from Aysgarth has a blog post with more info about the encounter.
This is the Aysgarth cover of Brian Wilson:
Other videos
I was pleased to see lots of people putting their videos on YouTube, as requested by the band :)
There are plenty of other videos on YouTube, if you search for barenaked ladies london, but here's some of the highlights.
Also worthy of note are the fantastic bathroom sessions and the YouTube Celebrities - Sound Of Your Voice video. This one really sprung to mind as the ladies entered to numa numa.
If I Had a Million Dollars
This version has nicer audio - it looks like the person who filmed it used the USB stick audio - the Cameraphone and Oyster card banter is nice and clear in this.
One Week
You'll have to view this one on YouTube - click the video to do so.
For You
The acoustic version of For You.
Angry People
The angry people dance was fantastic.
Get In Line
The Finale
The always-awesome Steve Page finale - 'My Love' this time.
